Services

Script Consulting

Are you writing a play or film script that you’re really excited to share soon? Are you at  the stage of the writing process where you need a second pair of eyes? Are you stuck at your midpoint or not sure where to start with your story idea?

I can help!

I have several years of storytelling experience, my plays have made it from rough ideas on a word doc to live on stage and in the flesh. I know what it’s like to be at every stage in between. I have picked up useful tricks in solving plot holes, improving character arcs and solidifying story structures.

I will read over your script in careful detail and with a critical eye, give you detailed notes and feedback. In my consulting I will ask you questions to help you get more specific with your script and give you  constructive suggestions on how to tie up loose ends and help you get your story to the next step.

I truly love to read new work. Consulting and editing allows me to get to know so many creatives and gives me the opportunity to do what I love most; collaborate in the telling of new stories.

I’m looking forward to assisting with the further development of your play or film script!

Script/Story Editing and Proof-Reading

Your script or story is in it’s final draft! Congratulations! I hope you’re proud of how far your story has come. Are you ready to send it out to industry professionals and submissions? Are you sending a short story into a contest? Are you preparing for a workshop of your script? Is it time for rehearsal and you need a tidy draft?

I can help with that!

I am an experienced editor and can read through your script and make sure it’s in professional shape. Most submissions and industry professionals expect a certain structure standard when reading your script. This can be anything from font type, stage directions to margin sizes and headings. I’ll make sure your script is up to industry standard and looks great!

I will look through your script with a fine-tooth comb and make sure grammar and spelling is top-notch. I’ll make suggestions on sentence structure that will make your message more clear for the reader, as well as giving you feedback to make story-telling mechanisms more understandable and effective.

I am as thorough in my editing as I do in my consulting, and so look forward to reading new stories and scripts

Let’s collaborate and get your story to the finish line together!

Dramaturgy Research

I love to research; maybe a little too much. I fall deep down research rabbit holes because of my unbridled curiosity and eagerness to learn. For some people research can feel daunting and tedious. Some writers sometimes find it difficult to find the information they need. Do you need to have specific contextual information to build the world of your play or film? Are there certain historical facts you need to verify in order to write your script? Do you have structural questions about your story or script to make it more compelling?

I would love to help you with this!

It might sound odd but I love to research. I love dissecting a script and finding ways to make it more impactful. I have written many complex scripts in which the story depended on accurate historical context. I need to find out about dress, language, slang and crucial sequence of not well documented events.

There were times I desperately wanted to write a scene but first I needed to confirm a lot of information. Sometimes I wanted to write and confirm later. There are many ways to implement dramaturgical research, but what I found most useful was the feedback of my colleagues; hearing that certain moments weren’t as clear as others, some details didn’t feel authentic, or some characters felt underwritten. Feedback and dramaturgical research helps shine a little on imperfections and allows me to write an impactful script.

Let’s get specific about the details of your script, iron out the wrinkles and get the draft ready for the next part of your process.

** Rates will be subject to the specific needs of your script or if your needs are time sensitive. Send me an email and we can set up a time to talk about what you would like assistance with regarding your story. We can combine the above services for a price that works for you!

Audition Prep Coaching

Preparing for an audition on your own can sometimes feel a little overwhelming. You practice the sides on your own for ours but when you get in the room your audition often feels like a first read. Nerves might get in the way, lines can be dropped and you might forget your objective choices. Like with writing, an actor might need feedback from a trusted colleague in order to tell a clear but evocative story.

In an hour or half hour session we can go through memorizing lines, define objections, play with choices, even choose an outfit. Let’s work together in putting your best foot forward and get you booked!

Prepping for the Drama School Auditioning Season

Are you applying for an acting school or conservatory? I have been through this process and understand how daunting it can seem. Most drama schools require you to choose two contrasting monologues, a classical monologue, sometimes even a song. What do you wear at this type of audition? What it comes down to is choosing material that represents you in your best light.

Once the hard work of finding your acting school audition material has been completed, comes the in depth preparation and rehearsal process. Finding different ways to play, understanding the context of your classical monologue, script analysis, language play and physical choices.

Having someone to guide you through this process can take away some of the pressure and the anxiety. I will walk you through the process, help you choose material, coach you in rehearsals and be available to answer any questions you might have about this type of audition.

Wanting to enhance your craft by training at a drama institution or conservatory is a big decision! Let’s get you through the door.

**Book with me as late as 24hrs notice before your audition. Save money by buying sessions in bulk to prepare for your school auditions. Visit the contact page to set up a consultation time.
